I’ve always preferred to use a sponge to wash my face, as I think they give a more thorough cleanse. However, as most sponges are made from plastic and I was replacing them every couple of months, I switched to using Konjac sponges as a more sustainable alternative. I love how I can just cut them up and throw them in my compost bin when they start to fall apart. They usually last about a month or two before they need to be replaced.
I also love that these Konjac sponges come with a string that I can use to hang them up to dry after cleansing. The fact that they’re made from activated charcoal makes them feel more hygienic to use than regular sponges, as activated charcoal absorbs bacteria.
I was hesitant to try a Konjac sponge at first, as they look quite hard and scratchy in the packet. However, they expand and soften so much when they’re wet that they’re very gentle to use on the face, in fact they’re softer than the sponges I was using previously.
I’m surprised at how much difference a sponge made to my skincare routine, I just wish Purito would make a body sponge version of this!
